The Evolution of Sacred Bloom: How Velvet Bloom Came to Be

The Evolution of Sacred Bloom: How Velvet Bloom Came to Be

Sacred Bloom has been a long time in the making.

What began as an Ayurvedic wellness practice grew out of my desire to help women understand their bodies differently—to look beyond symptoms and begin to see the connections between nourishment, hormones, digestion, stress, vitality, aging, sexuality, and the rhythms of being a woman.

For years, Ayurveda was the language through which I did that work.

It taught me to look at the whole woman.

And the more women I worked with, the more I realized that there was something much bigger I wanted to create.

Sacred Bloom was never meant to be just Ayurveda.

Ayurveda will always be part of the foundation of Sacred Bloom. It changed the way I understand health, the way I formulate, and the way I think about caring for the body.

But I didn't want Sacred Bloom to become another wellness brand with a narrow definition of who a woman is supposed to be.

Women don't live their lives in categories.

We don't wake up one morning and become “hormonal health.”

We aren't one day “fertility,” another day “motherhood,” and eventually “menopause.”

We are whole, complicated, changing human beings.

Our bodies change throughout our lives. Our skin changes. Our hormones change. Our sexuality changes. Our needs change.

And I became increasingly interested in the places where women aren't necessarily sick—they simply need better care.

That realization eventually led me somewhere unexpected.

Intimate wellness.

Why intimate skin?

We have entire industries devoted to caring for women's faces.

We have cleansers, serums, oils, masks, moisturizers, treatments and beautifully packaged rituals for nearly every inch of our bodies.

But intimate skin has somehow remained largely outside of that conversation.

For many women, intimate care only becomes something we think about when there is a problem.

Dryness.

Sensitivity.

Friction.

Changes associated with hormones and aging.

Discomfort.

Or simply the realization that the skin in this area needs care too.

And there is another layer to it.

Women are often taught not to talk about this part of their bodies.

We give it dozens of names. Some clinical. Some funny. Some silly. Some deeply personal.

Recently, I asked the women who had ordered Velvet Bloom what they call theirs.

The responses made me laugh—and touched me at the same time.

Yoni.

Vajiji.

Kilschlapus.

Pucciagini.

And one woman beautifully called hers “Kucina,” imagining it as a kitchen and an oven—a place of warmth, nourishment, creation, and a lifetime of “cooking my life.”

That response stayed with me.

Because underneath all of the different names, there is something universal:

This is part of us. And it deserves care.

And then Velvet Bloom began to take shape.

I didn't want to create a lubricant.

I didn't want to create a medicinal product.

And I didn't want to take an ordinary body oil, put it in a beautiful bottle, and call it intimate care.

I wanted something different.

I wanted a purpose-built botanical oil for the external vulva and intimate skin.

Something luxurious.

Something sensorial.

Something a woman would actually enjoy using.

And something formulated with the kind of thoughtfulness I have always brought to my work.

The formulation became its own journey.

I spent time considering the carrier oils, the botanicals, their proportions, how they would feel on delicate skin, how they would work together, and how the finished product would smell and feel.

The final formula brings together meadowfoam seed oil, jojoba oil and oat oil with botanicals including gotu kola, calendula, shatavari and rose, along with rose, frankincense and vanilla CO₂ and vitamin E.

But creating the formula was only part of the process.

There were bottles to source.

Labels to figure out.

Packaging decisions.

Production details.

Measurements.

Revisions.

And plenty of moments where bringing a product into the physical world felt considerably more complicated than the beautiful finished bottle makes it look.

At one point, even the bottle order became a problem.

It delayed everything.

And I had to wait.

That is one of the less glamorous realities of creating something from scratch: sometimes the work isn't about creating. Sometimes it's about troubleshooting, waiting, changing direction, and continuing anyway.

But eventually, everything came together.

And Velvet Bloom was real.

Why Velvet Bloom?

Because I believe intimate care belongs in the conversation about women's wellness.

Not because women need another thing to worry about.

Quite the opposite.

Because caring for our bodies shouldn't begin only when something goes wrong.

Velvet Bloom is designed for the external vulva and intimate skin—to moisturize, soften and nourish delicate skin, particularly when it feels dry, sensitive or less supple.

It is intimate skincare.

But I wanted it to be more than functional.

I wanted it to feel beautiful.

The experience of opening the bottle, applying the oil, feeling it on your skin, breathing in the botanical aroma—those things matter.

Because how we care for ourselves matters.

And sometimes turning something ordinary into a ritual changes our relationship with it.

This is the next chapter of Sacred Bloom.

Velvet Bloom is the first product of a new direction for Sacred Bloom Health.

Not a departure from where I've been.

An expansion of it.

The years of studying Ayurveda, working with women's bodies, learning about herbs and botanicals, practicing energy work, studying the rhythms of the body, and sitting across from women listening to their stories all brought me here.

I don't want Sacred Bloom to tell women that their bodies are broken.

I want to create products that help women care for the bodies they actually have.

The changing body.

The aging body.

The sensual body.

The powerful body.

The body that has carried children, built businesses, survived heartbreak, created art, worked long hours, loved deeply, and sometimes simply needs a little more tenderness.

That is the woman I am creating Sacred Bloom for.

And Velvet Bloom is where that next chapter begins.

A little bottle of botanical oil.

But behind it are years of learning, thousands of conversations, countless decisions, a lot of persistence, and a very simple belief:

Women deserve to feel at home in their bodies.

Welcome to the next chapter of Sacred Bloom Health.

Welcome to Velvet Bloom.

Love,

Michelle
